I spent one week at "L'Hopital De Bonne Fin" working hands in hands with an orthopedic surgeon running the clinics assisting with surgery. My missionary work did not finish there, I also played with the children of the area, taught them songs, listened tot eh indigenous people speak to them about Christ "The Great Problem Solver, Healer, Counselor and Friend". At the end of my week, I felt energetically blessed and on fire as i see my hand at my Lord's work...       Louise Leoda was a mother, a Christian and a friend for so   many.  As her daughter and growing up, I remember that she would be dreaming of building an orphanage of care for people. As the years passed while living in the U.S., she was always thinking about her dream. Once retired she went back to Haiti and started building her home. Unfortunately she passed away without realizing her dream. Louise Leoda Jusma died in 1998, but her dream survives... She is a graduate of SUNY Health Science Center of Brooklyn with a bachelor in nursing in 1987, and with a doctorate at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1996. She is currently attending staff at the North Brooklyn Health Network, Woodhull Hospital, and The Brooklyn Hospital Center. She had founded and works as volunteer for the Haitian American Youth for Christ conducting yearly health fairs at Camp Lebanon in New Jersey. She also volunteered with Overseas Medical Assistance Team, which led her to be a recipient of the Carmen and Francis Carryl Humanitarian Service Award. We spent sometimes sharing our dreams. One dream we had in common was to help the Haitian people. The Lord had put that burning desire in her heart to help to the extent that she can. She shared her money, her clothes, her food, and even her medications.  The need was great and overwhelming. As we were talking in her little garden, my eyes were focused on her old drained hands. “How do you handle all this?” I asked. Her answer was straight to the point: One day at the time, one person at the time, and one family at the time. She explained don’t took at the whole picture for it could be over whelming. Her answer seemed so wise, knowing how I was feeling. I took one more look at her right hand and thought this is a true Christian hand.  With her encouraging arm and helping hand, I did a free clinic day for the people in the area; we provided medications, food, clothes and words of comfort. It was a blast for both givers and receivers, we had a blessed time.  The Lord decided it was time to take her home, she said her goodbye in December of 1998. While waiting to reunite again, we decided to continue this ministry in her memory. Leoda Jusma is the perfect name for the foundation. Life was short but The Leoda Jusma Foundation will put forth her dream to care for people in real need. She is a graduate of SUNY Health Science Center of Brooklyn with a bachelor in nursing in 1987, and with a doctorate at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1996. She is currently attending staff at the North Brooklyn Health Network, Woodhull Hospital, and The Brooklyn Hospital Center. She had founded and works as volunteer for the Haitian American Youth for Christ conducting yearly health fairs at Camp Lebanon in New Jersey. She also volunteered with Overseas Medical Assistance Team, which led her to be a recipient of the Carmen and Francis Carryl Humanitarian Service Award. I spent one week at &quot;L'Hopital De Bonne Fin&quot; working hands in hands with an orthopedic surgeon running the clinics assisting with surgery. My missionary work did not finish there, I also played with the children of the area, taught them songs, listened tot eh indigenous people speak to them about Christ &quot;The Great Problem Solver, Healer, Counselor and Friend&quot;. At the end of my week, I felt energetically blessed and on fire as i see my hand at my Lord's work...  I went on to spend one week of vacation with my mother who was living near by at the time. We spent sometimes sharing our dreams. One dream we had in common was to help the Haitian people. The Lord had put that burning desire in her heart to help to the extent that she can. She shared her money, her clothes, her food, and even her medications.  The need was great and overwhelming. As we were talking in her little garden, my eyes were focused on her old drained hands. “How do you handle all this?” I asked. Her answer was straight to the point: One day at the time, one person at the time, and one family at the time. She explained don’t took at the whole picture for it could be over whelming. Her answer seemed so wise, knowing how I was feeling. I took one more look at her right hand and thought this is a true Christian hand.  With her encouraging arm and helping hand, I did a free clinic day for the people in the area; we provided medications, food, clothes and words of comfort. It was a blast for both givers and receivers, we had a blessed time.  The Lord decided it was time to take her home, she said her goodbye in December of 1998. While waiting to reunite again, we decided to continue this ministry in her memory. As her daughter and growing up, I remember that she would be dreaming of building an orphanage of care for people. As the years passed while living in the U.S., she was always thinking about her dream. Once retired she went back to Haiti and started building her home. Unfortunately she passed away without realizing her dream. Louise Leoda Jusma died in 1998, but her dream survives. On the last “ tete a tete” she had with me, I remember her saying: &quot;Do not be in a hurry, be patient, very patient and you’ll be fine&quot;. Louise Leoda Jusma Foundation will be her initial plan: Preaching, teaching the Gospel like she did as a Sunday school teacher at Haitian Baptist Church in Brooklyn, care for people's health by giving them money for medical supplies, clothing the unfortunate neighbor of her home town, feeding and sheltering many people in need in N.Y. and in Haiti. Leoda Jusma is the perfect name for the foundation. Life was short but The Leoda Jusma Foundation will put forth her dream to care for people in real need. She is a graduate of SUNY Health Science Center of Brooklyn with a bachelor in nursing in 1987, and with a doctorate at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1996. She is currently attending staff at the North Brooklyn Health Network, Woodhull Hospital, and The Brooklyn Hospital Center. She had founded and works as volunteer for the Haitian American Youth for Christ conducting yearly health fairs at Camp Lebanon in New Jersey. She also volunteered with Overseas Medical Assistance Team, which led her to be a recipient of the Carmen and Francis Carryl Humanitarian Service Award. On a Personal Note    A Mother   Leadership   Donate    On a Personal Note Christian Hands &quot;The Leoda Jusma Foundation&quot; took birth in August 1998 during my first missionary trip to Haiti.  I spent one week at &quot;L'Hopital De Bonne Fin&quot; working hands in hands with an orthopedic surgeon running the clinics assisting with surgery. My missionary work did not finish there, I also played with the children of the area, taught them songs, listened tot eh indigenous people speak to them about Christ &quot;The Great Problem Solver, Healer, Counselor and Friend&quot;. At the end of my week, I felt energetically blessed and on fire as i see my hand at my Lord's work...  I went on to spend one week of vacation with my mother who was living near by at the time. We spent sometimes sharing our dreams. One dream we had in common was to help the Haitian people. The Lord had put that burning desire in her heart to help to the extent that she can. She shared her money, her clothes, her food, and even her medications.  The need was great and overwhelming. As we were talking in her little garden, my eyes were focused on her old drained hands. “How do you handle all this?” I asked. Her answer was straight to the point: One day at the time, one person at the time, and one family at the time. She explained don’t took at the whole picture for it could be over whelming. Her answer seemed so wise, knowing how I was feeling. I took one more look at her right hand and thought this is a true Christian hand.  With her encouraging arm and helping hand, I did a free clinic day for the people in the area; we provided medications, food, clothes and words of comfort. It was a blast for both givers and receivers, we had a blessed time.  The Lord decided it was time to take her home, she said her goodbye in December of 1998. While waiting to reunite again, we decided to continue this ministry in her memory. Our Values Reflections  You Didn't Get To...    On a Personal Note    A Mother   Leadership   Donate    Louise Leoda was a mother, a Christian and a friend for so many.  As her daughter and growing up, I remember that she would be dreaming of building an orphanage of care for people. As the years passed while living in the U.S., she was always thinking about her dream. Once retired she went back to Haiti and started building her home. Unfortunately she passed away without realizing her dream. Louise Leoda Jusma died in 1998, but her dream survives. On the last “ tete a tete” she had with me, I remember her saying: &quot;Do not be in a hurry, be patient, very patient and you’ll be fine&quot;. Louise Leoda Jusma Foundation will be her initial plan: Preaching, teaching the Gospel like she did as a Sunday school teacher at Haitian Baptist Church in Brooklyn, care for people's health by giving them money for medical supplies, clothing the unfortunate neighbor of her home town, feeding and sheltering many people in need in N.Y. and in Haiti. Leoda Jusma is the perfect name for the foundation. Life was short but The Leoda Jusma Foundation will put forth her dream to care for people in real need. In her memory; this non-profit organization will survive by the grace of God.
